Evening Meditations

If you don’t like where you’re at in life, the only way to escape is to have a goal and plan in mind, focus on it, and work at it little by little everyday. Nothing happens over night and you have to taper your expectations. The day is also filled with distractions to no end that are all competing for your attention. The older you get the more comfortably numb you become to your circumstance and the tomorrow you long for never comes. Your energy starts to leave you and all the time you could’ve strived towards your goal gets eaten away by so much passivity, kicking that can down the road, always out of reach.

But if you continue to work at what you want, inevitably you will reach a point of no return. At that junction, you must have faith in your conviction to continue down that path and follow it wherever it leads. You have to understand that if you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always got, and you already know where that leads, to nowhere. You have to know what you want, you have to work at it over time. Through that process the more prepared you’ll be to leave behind everything you’ve come to know, trying to keep you in your place, and venture into the unknown to claim what’s yours, your life.
