Heart and Sowell

“In the small matters, trust your mind, in the large, trust your heart.” -Sigmund Freud
If there’s anything I’ve learned over the past year, through investments, through social and political upheavals, is that the so-called experts really don’t know anything and their guess is about as good as ours. I do not take stock in any one individual or even group of individuals, I take any and all information and apply to the best of my knowledge and ability. I don’t always get it right, nobody does, but sometimes even with all the information, you have to go with your gut.
Paradoxically, if I can recommend one book that challenges the knowledge of so-called experts is Thomas Sowell’s “intellectuals and society.” He outlines how the people who’s end product is ideas usually have far reaching implications that rearrange a society, yet pay no price at all if it all goes wrong. I can see that to be true, especially in today’s day and age.
